.KEY MESSAGES...
- Post Tropical Cyclone Isaias has pushed off to the northeast
with only some lingering precip across the eastern portion of
the CWA.
- Gusty gradient winds around 25 mph are possible this afternoon
as drier air approaches from the west.
- Quiet weather is expected for the upcoming work week.

.SHORT TERM...
(This afternoon through Sunday)

Post Tropical Cyclone Isaias continues to push northward into
northern Alabama and Tennessee with lingering effects continuing
over portions of Georgia. The main area we are watching is the
southeast Georgia area where there is a tornado watch in effect for
Emmanuel, Toombs, and Jefferson counties. There is a lingering band
oriented from north to south through this area into south Georgia
that is an area of enhanced CAPE (3000J/kg) and shear south of the
warm front. There are multiple circulations we will continue to
watch along this band for tornado potential through the next couple
of hours. Further west and north, we can see the warm front boundary
draped along I-20 that has steadily pushed north through the late
morning/early afternoon. Areas east of I-75 and south of I-20 will
be where we will be watching for the potential redevelopment of
banding. All the ingredients are there to give us an elevated
tornado and heavy rain threat BUT it will be a matter of IF this
band can redevelop. With clearing ongoing, leaning towards at least
some redevelopment here in the next couple of hours and lasting
through late evening.
Winds have begun to diminish as Isaias has moved northward which has
resulted in the cancellation of portions of the High wind warning
and areas of the wind advisory. Wind gusts should remain in the 20-
30mph range through the remainder of the evening with gusts in the
higher elevations up to 40 to 50mph still possible.
Will continue to evaluate and potentially cancel early if needed.
The flood watch remains in effect through 8am tomorrow for eastern
Georgia but will also likely be cancelled early. Areas south and
east of I-85 in the south metro did receive anywhere from 2-4inches
of rainfall through this morning and areas of east Georgia will
continue to see heavy rainfall within these bands that could produce
additional amounts of 1-3".
Isaias quickly moves northward with rain bands exiting the area
around midnight tonight with clearing skies by tomorrow.

.LONG TERM...
(Monday morning through next Friday)

No changes were made to the longterm forecast.
The long term picks up after the remnants of Isaias are not but a
memory. Dry air will settle in across the southeast and bring back a
little bit of summer on the backside. Highs in the mid to upper 80s
are expected as high pressure keeps winds out of the west. Drier
conditions will start off the long term, but as the high slowly
meanders to the east, we`ll start to see a moisture return by the
middle part of the work week brining afternoon heat index values
back into the 90s.
Expect overnight lows to be comfortably in the 50s and 60s for much
of the area with winds becoming light and variable during the
overnight hours. By next weekend, some of the model runs are
beginning to indicate the possibility for a strong cold front to
push down from the north that will bring fall back into the region.
But for the meantime, enjoy a little bit more late summer and plenty
of sunshine.

MVFR and IFR Cigs will start us off this morning with slow but
steady improvement back towards VFR after 18Z. Winds will be out of
the WSW today between 8-12kts with gusts as high as 20kts after 14Z.
Chance for any weather elements has come to an end and dry air will
bring back mostly clear skies by the end of the forecast period.
